Keeping kitsch in March

Monochrome is the one of the most sensible outfits you can rock right? Whether it's casual with a Nike crop top and swooshy maxi, or full-blown Sandy from Grease after her makeover. (sassy swinging ponytail not sold separately.)

But we've all been here long enough to know that this monochrome madness doesn't last for long, so it wasn't long until I started looking like something out of a Fleetwood Mac pastel-coloured tribute band.

And from the ultimate Rock goddess Stevie Nicks to my own low-key impersonation of a rock chick. Silky pyjama top tied up and tight disco pants zipped up, and you're ready to head to any gig with a sticky floor spilled with beer.

And let's face it, I'm never far from a pair of dungarees. From one musical icon to another, glittery pink boots and a fedora hat will give you some strong Dolly Parton vibes (and that ain't no bad thing.)

Shimmering, mermaid looks can also be tied up nicely with a criss-cross across the top or the sandals.

Now Spring is on it's way as well, there's no way this girl can avoid a touch of double denim, cus you know, I live in a nostalgic 90s haze.

So 90s in fact that a day hardly goes by without me rocking a slogan top. Cheers for having my back CK and Fila.

With all this fluctuating Spring sunshine and showers, the bomber jacket is my go-to item. And with it, I am completely 100% ready for my audition as Ryan Gosling in Drive.

Holographic happenings through February

What that I see? A hint of spring trying to peek through?!
So I'm trying to lure out the sunshine and warmth with florals - groundbreaking, I know - but when they're in the form of a choker or on a background of a metallic silver leather jacket, it's hard not to strut into a new season feeling like a rockstar.
If a David Bowie-esque jacket wasn't enough, then shimmery culottes, a metallic pink mini skirt or Dolly Parton worthy glittery boots should do the trick.
And nothing goes better with a holographic palette than a sassy slogan. U ok hun? Well, everything is more than OK when there's a slogan tshirt in town.
Espeically if that slogan tshirt is for an amazing cause supporting Breast Cancer Haven AND it quotes Fergie. What else do you need?
But why go subtle with a slogan tee when you can go the full-hog with a Space Jam basketball jersey. Gotta support my homegirl Lola Bunny y'all.
My girly heart can not get over this uber-cute and uber-glitzy heart shaped choker. Real Marie from Aristocats vibes going on here.
But it's not always pink clouds and fluffy unicorns round these parts. Especially when there's crimped hair and dark lipstick to be worn.
At the end of the day though, you can't go wrong with old faithful. Red lippy, you've never done me wrong girl.

Absolute April!

April is one of my favourite months, and I'm not gonna lie, part of the reason why I love it so much is because it's MY BIRTHDAY! And what better way to celebrate getting older and not really that much wiser, than with a LBD (psst, it's backless! oo-er.) Oh, and 2 metallic silver MASSIVE balloons to let everyone how old you are. Of course.

And let's face it, getting older was never going to stop me wearing ridiculous and silly things now was it. There's too many moving sequinned tops, heart sequinned bras, cactus printed shorts and tassled slogan sweatshirts to get through.

But don't worry I'm practical too! If by practical you mean a sport Space Jam basketball jersey and an equally as sporty Adidas jacket. SPORTS.

Oh, and there were stripes involved - colourful, tied-up stripey numbers...

ALL the stripes. From jeans to go with bright lemon-yellow midi skirts.

See, told you it went with yellow. Even when that yellow is in the form of a fisherman-style raincoat. Which go perfectly with floral embroidered jeans. All the essential one needs to go away on holiday right?

But that doesn't mean I can't do dar and mysterious as well! Look at that dark lipstic, strappy cami and metallic leather skirt. All the many, mad dimensions to how I like to dress y'all.

But let's face it, I'm just gonna end up back to comfort. Whether that's a slouchy jumpsuit, a shirt worthy of a sleepover, or your actual pyjamas. Comfort is king kids.

Until next time,
A.x

Month by Numbers: sporty & singing-filled Spring

1.) This month, it's finally felt that Spring has well and truly sprung. Like actual birds chirping, still light when you leave work, warmth on your skin...SPRING! And I've celebrated with classes of champagne in the countryside and singing along to said cheerful birds like I'm an animated Disney princess.

2.) All these antics have been captured on Snapchat as well. I've been well into Snapchat since day 1 way back when I was still in uni, but it went off my radar for a bit. But now with filters galore, my Snapchat story gets updated more regularly than a daily vlogger's YouTube channel. Add me babes, you can find me over at Amylo92 - see ya thereeee

3.) And there's plenty to be Snapchatting about when there's trips to country manor houses in the sunshine with champagne to be had. I kinda have my own little routine and bubble in London, so I kinda forget there's so much that I haven't ventured out there and seen. Like, who would've thought that just down the Northern line, is this little slice of paradise?
4.) I'm not one for change and in the past haven't been great at pushing myself out of my comfort zone. This year I've been really trying to do that more though - trying new fitness classes, going to more events when offered. I'm just trying to say 'yes' to more things, even when I'm initially not that excited or sure about it, and my life's been a lot more fun and varied due to it!

5.) For someone who's least favourite Spice Girl back in the day was Sporty Spice, I've certainly been taking a lot of inspiration from Mel of late. Oh, how wrong my young self's Spice Girls judgement was. Boxing gloves, Adidas stripes and Nike Air Maxes. Who says style and comfort don't go hand in hand?

6.) Guys. It finally happened. After years or wishing and waiting, I finally got to see my queen, the goddess that is Adele, sing live. It was everything I thought it would be and more - I laughed, I (nearly) cried, I lost my voice and my mind. And she's not the only music I've been indulging in - I've been venturing into the world of modern choirs at Southbank, and I got to go to a Sofar Sounds in Dalston. If you're into discovering new music and artists, get signing up to Sofar Sounds - it's intimate, personal and make you fall in love with music all over again.

7.) This back end of this month has been a bit of a funny one. I've just not really felt like myself, and it's not because I'm ill. I've been unmotivated about life in general and don't really know what's up with me, and that stresses me out more that I can't pinpoint it. And as someone who's a constant optimist, I didn't quite know how to deal with it. But as I knew I would, I'm out at the woods on the other side now and back to my usual Powerpuff Girls-esque self. So no matter how bad things, it'll always work out in the end my loves.

5 tweets...
1.) Put an emoji in an email & my boss asked if I could only communicate via emojis from now - you don't know how much I want and can do that 👌🏼
2.) HOW have I just discovered Poutine?! It's chips, and cheese, and gravy...THAT'S ALL MY FAVE THINGS 😱
3.) No Facebook, I don't want to be friends with my ex's new girlfriend, so please don't suggest I add her as one.. Thanks. Sincerely, Amy 💔
4.) Excited to get home tonight because I'm going to ice some puns on some buns. Yup. That's the life I lead kids 🍰
5.) My flatmate the other day asked if I'd watched Mean Girls recently because I'd been quoting it a lot. Nop. That's just how I roll hun💁🏻

3 songs...
This little blank space used to be saved for 3 babein' outfits that I'd been reppin', but with a monthly rundown of my #OOTDs and general dressing up, it seemed a bit reptitive. And since I have a bit of a tendancy to get obsessed with songs and listening to them on repeat non stop, I've swapped this bit over for the earworms that have been invading my life recently.

1.) Troye Sivan - Youth

I remember watching this lil' munchkins vlogs years ago on YouTube, and now, he's got a full blown album and performing all over the world. I've had his album since I've been released and this song been out for a bit, but recently, I just can't get enough of it's drop and it's lyrics that make me want to sack everything in and run away into the sunset.

2.) Meghan Trainor - No

Yes, the lyrics are...quetionable. But this is dripping in 2002 vibes a la Britney Spears. So when Meghan says no, she actaully means 'YES THIS IS AN ABSOLUTE JAM AND YOU CAN'T HELP BUT SHAKE YOUR BUTT'

3.) Ariana Grande - Be Alright

If you're having a bit of a shit time of late like I was, take it from the sassy babe that is Ariana and know that everything will be alright.

An ode to dungarees

I hadn't laid my eyes on you since I was 6-years-old,
and after all these years, I wondered if I could be so bold,
to press 'proceed to checkout' on that Topshop site,
and at 2am while procrastinating, I thought I just might.

Breton stripe, lace crop tops and white tees,
I thought of all the things I could pair with thee,
Summertime frolics, drunken nights that were reckless,
All the possibilities, well, they were endless.

Comfort and effortless style, you're the whole deal,
And perfect for when I wake up late to meet friends for a meal.
You are perfect for occasions of all kinds,
Constantly making up new combinations in my mind.

But it wasn't enough, I started trying on more versions of you,
And before I knew it, I had bought another you in a different hue.
You're perfect in every form, and even as a skirt,
I'd forgotten about other clothes, what even is a shirt?

From babysitting to bars, from day to night,
I couldn't stop buckling up those straps, try as I might.
Long, short, denim, black,
I've fallen in love with you, and I can't go back.

Florals..? For Spring?

Grounbreaking...well, for once - perhaps.
source: sneakernews
Despite my love of all things that look like a beautiful bouquet of Spring florals, I could not agree more with this infamous 'Devil Wears Prada' quote.
Year after year, when Spring rolls around, florals are made out to be the new hottest thing since Beyonce told men if they like it, they should've put a ring on it. And it's not. Really not. It's the same every year.

Unless, you're one of the longest running department stores in Britain, collaborating with one of the biggest brands in sports.

Liberty London not only is one of the most beautiful buildings in London (which I still find as breathtaking every time I see it now), but also produce some quality and gorgeous printed fabric.

So when they're delicate and nostalgic florals were mixed with the fresh and clean lines of Nike last year, the world went mad, and this year was no different.
And after lusting after the collection last time around, this year, I decided to nab myself something. And this beautiful shorts are now mine to snuggle in forever.

The calm and relaxing tone is blue is the perfect juxtaposition to the rush of activity of Nike
And my favourite thing is that when you look closely, every section of the shorts are a different archive Liberty Art print - it's like wearing your own personal patchwork quilt!

With these, on a lounging Spring day, I wore them with my favourite piece of knitwear at the moment.
jumper:Topshop, shorts:Liberty
Yellow is one of my favourite colours (it's so goddamn happy!) and when it comes with 3 of my other favourite things as well - that it's pastel, has floral lace on it, and shoulder cut-outs - well, that's just a winning streak right there!

What do you guys think of the Nike x Liberty collection?
Have you guys seen anything from the collaboration that's taken your fancy?

Hope you're all well!

101 Spotty Dottys

Me and trousers don't have the best relationship. They're always too long for my lil legs. Whenever they fit around my waist, they don't around my hips. They either swamp me and look like a dwarf, or are so skinny that I feel like I'm gonna faint at any time for the circulation being cut off in my legs.
But in an attempt to break out my wardrobe ruts, when I saw this dreamy, spotty, watercolor 2-legged creation, I just had to take them for a test drive.
They're so fun yet elegant. I don't know if I feel more like I'm part of a pointillism painting, or like I'm a Dalmatian puppy.
When leaving a lecture wearing this, one of my friend's commented how I looked like I was about to jet off and jump onto a boat for a little getaway (i wish!)
With the sun making more of an appearance these days, it's been new to whack out the sunshades again, which also gets to hide my terrible dark circles under my eyes! (I'm such a night owl, it's terrible...)
With such busy, patterned legs galloping through Sheffield, the rest of me was kept plain and simple, topped off with a dangling and tasseled necklace.
I'm so glad that Spring seems to be on it's way now! Are you guys looking forward to a change of weather and wardrobe?

Fancy Pants

Having a tiny break from the corridors of uni, i headed into town to run some errands and pick up some things, unfortunately, Spring still hasn't arrived, despite it being April now.

The sky was grey and the pavements were wet, so i brightened up the surroundings with these trousers.
I've had them for a little while now, but the other day while i had them on in uni, i for some reason got a handful of compliments about them, and it made me realise how gorgeous they actually are!
jacket: Urban Code, top: New Look, trousers: Topshop, shoes: Libertys for Clarks
I love how smart they are, while by being a tone of blue that isn't dissimilar to jeans, they go so well with everything, and the silver, metallic detail makes it that bit more special.
While in town, and returning some items to Topshop, i saw some socks on offer.
I am the biggest sucker for cute and fun socks.
They have flipping dinosaurs on!

I really do hope the weather brightens up soon, especially this following week, i'm spending the weekend wth fmily for birthday celebrations, as on Monday, i'm turning the ripe ol' age of 21.

Hope you're all well,
Speak soon,
