Month by Numbers: gals & good times

1.) One of the reasons I love my job so much is because of the people. So when there's a chance to drink and be merry with said people, that's time well spent, especially when that day is Valentines Gal-entines Day. A day of love spent with my loves!
And you can beat anytime that the Bella Babes are out on the town, there's bond to be prosecco, espresso martinis, Instagrams on fleek, laughing in unison and hazy memories the next day.

2.) Continuing on my bid to see more of the country I live in, I headed to Oxford to spend some time with some of my favourite uni babes, and Oxford just happens to be the same distance for all of us to travel. We ate, we drank, we wondered around feeling uber-British and we climbed up a castle in the rain. Time. Well. Spent.

3.) I got my bake on this month y'all. Because when you need to bake a surprise cake for your bff's birthday, only a chocolate cake with Nutella frosting and a peanut butter glaze will do. Oh, and covered in gold stars and glitter of course.
And would you just LOOK at this bad boy! Not only is it the first time I've ever made a swiss roll (hence some cracks on it...don't worry, just throw some glitter on it, that's what I do for everything else in life anyway), but it's drench in motherflipping emojis. You're welcome.

4.) If you know me in any capacity, you'll know how much I love Adele. She's gotten me over heartbreaks and gotten me into sassy 'over you' mode. She's hilarious, engaging, has ALL the emotions and let's not even get started on her voice.
So when she won Best Album at the Grammys and said she couldn't accept her award because she though Beyonce deserved it, and then shared her award with her Cady Heron outta Mean Girls style? Well, my love for her just went up another level.

5.) After nearly 3 years of living in London, I finally got round to seeing some of the iconic sights. And all it took was for a London newbie to move into town so I could use the excuse to show them around. Lizzie was in the royal house and Big Ben was chiming.

6.) And on the flipside of all the London tourist sights is all the greenery that the big smoke has to offer. Some Sheffield huns came down to visit and we spent all day just meandering around Hampstead Heath, coo-ed at all the doggos, sang Disney songs, and the sun even came out for the occasion.

7.) Social media is fucking great. Not a surprising statement to make from this millennial here, I know. But there I was, scrolling away, and then came across someone sharing some pretty badass t-shirts, and as a slogan tee obsessive, I clicked on it straight away. But they were so much more than a sassy slogan tee. Lolli, aka Girl Stole London, is the genius behind these tees, and also the babe that is kicking cancer in the tits. She writes about her battle in a really honest, real and hilarious way in which her personality really shines. As someone who's seen their loved one go through cancer, it can be scary and you can have fear instilled into you constantly and it's refreshing to hear about it from a down-to-earth and logical way (read more here boo).
So if you love a slogan tee as much as I do, get one from here, look great with 25% of proceeds going toward Breast Cancer Haven, do a great thing while doing so.

Full-on February

February fashion was full-on. And by that, I mean that I wore a 90s Britney Spears-esque pink crop top, paired with a baby blue mini skirt and topped off with a lilac coat for my first day of a new job. Basically, an ice-cream sundae.
Oh, and metallic, multi-coloured pom-pom shoes....start as I meant to go on right?

Not surprising really when I own accessories such as a heart-shaped 'Don't be a dick' pin badge, a furry Bambi skirt (complete with bunny mug, naturally), and an extra pair of fluffball footwear. A girl can never have too many pom-poms y'know?
I mean....this sweatshirt is full-on in just a whole different way...
I love it. And I hate that I love it. (Don't judge me k)
Oh, Baron Von Trap, how I love you and your sassy rhymes and pun-tastic slogans.

Never fear though, Kenzo Paris is here to save the day with it's ditsy, cute prints of New York and Paris, and knitted, pastel portraits of Les Mis.
Even Parisian chic stripes can't just be left at that it seems. Yet more pom-poms on my feet and a big ol' Pink Ladies worthy coat to ruin it all. Or improve it. However you want to see it really babes.
Even when I put away the pastels (which, to be honest, isn't very honest) - it can't just be black and chic and simple can it?
Noooo, I have to wear an & Other Stories dress with animals and envelopes all over it, and borrow a top off Dennis the Menace to wear underneath my dungaree dress.

But I somehow manage to redeem myself with deep plunging 70s dresses, black fedoras and high necklines.
I even managed to look somewhat - dare I say it - cool? A big ol' shearling denim jacket overa cropped khaki halterneck and black midi skirt. I've even got a hun in! Who do I think I am!
Stop it now...I even got put some hoops in and the halter top has a chain fastening. Someone stop me. Who knew I had it in me eh?

Month by Numbers: new year, new room, new job

1.) My short month of Feb with filled with cheesy dance moves and eating a lot of meals out. So, what else is different eh?

2.) February is the time for Chinese New Year, which is essentially a 2nd Christmas. And as you can imagine, I absolutely love. Oh, and I get to spend lots of time with family too, which is also pretty swell.

3.) This month came with a lot of music in different genres and in different ways. My brother got us tickets to see a singer we both love - the folk angel that is Lissie and my god. Her voice, man. It's got so much emotion in it, it's insane. I've also been listening non-stop to Slaves' album, Are You Satisfied. A bit late to the party but perfect for everything from getting me out of bed and getting ready to go out, to going for a run and running errands. They're exactly what British angst has been missing for a long ol' time.

4.) This month I've really revelled in the love and lols of my friends. Everything else in your life can fluctuate so easily, but your friends are the ones who at the end of the day are proud of you, cheers you, and dance the night away with you. Whether they're all the way on the other side of the world, you're reprioritising some friendships that have been in life for a long time, or just making sure you clock in some quality time with them - they're pretty damn great aren't they?

5.) I re-decorated my room and it's now a Pinterest-worthy, marshmallow, circus wonderland and oh my...is it dreamy. I love it so much. Who knew bedding and some fairy lights could have such an effect on a girl?

6.) Chiswick House held a lantern festival to celebrate Chinese New Year, and despite my fingers and legs nearly freezing off (damn you tights and lack of gloves), it was a lit-up funfair of bright colours and amazing structures. Never have I felt more like I was tripping out of my mind.

7.) I GOT OFFERED A NEW FLIPPING JOB BOYS AND GIRLS. Sometimes life throws you a bit of an unexpected curveball. But you know what you do? Suck it up, keep calm and deal the fuck with it the best that you can (cause you're as British as a tea-drenched crumpet). Even when it tests your Jigglypuff-esque, optimistic persona - stick to your guns because in the end, it'll all end up working out and you can stick 2 fingers up at self doubt, that negative lil bugger. YAY TO EXCITING NEW CHAPTERS!

Cute, pastel, embroidered details, denim and crop tops - all very crucial staples of my wardrobe.
But who knew I'd take inspiration from Dennis the Menace's stripes as well hey?

February Chill

February has been a cold and harsh mistress. The cold has played havoc to my skin and the wind has caused some right run-ins to my hair with my face. And that's just in lil' ol' England, nevermind Prague, where it's minus temperatures. So when it came to a quick get-away there, I packed enough polonecks to give the 90s a run for their money.
Red lips and monochrome stripes - C'est chic, non?!

But what does one do when it's the perfect mix of refreshingly chilly with glorious sunshine? Whack out your Ray Bans son.
Navy polo neck, burgundy corduroy skirt and a mustard coat...and not a pastel colour in sight! - where's the real Amy and what have you done to her?! All that's remained is a majestic heart-shaped belt.
This month hasn't just been chilled in terms of temperature, but also when it comes to dressing. Dress-down denim with golden glimpses of longline necklaces is acceptable all day, everyday.
See? Chilled as an Ice Queen. Or a shimmering mermaid, which is what these high-tops are. Ugh, I love them love them love them.
But you know what I love less? Working out until you're a hot mess. But you may as well wear kawaii kit while doing so. *insert girl emoji with one hand raised...you know the one I mean*

Stay happy!
Until next time,
A.x
